Team Rubicon, a global relief organization empowered by US veterans, thanks the cofounders of the charity Civic Duty, Dr. Michael Omidi and his brother Julian Omidi, for their support. Last year, Team Rubicon helped thousands of victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines as well as the multitude of Americans devastated by Hurricane Sandy and the Moore Oklahoma tornado
“We take progressive measures to prevent and alleviate suffering and restore dignity to those affected by disasters. Our work is motivated solely by the altruistic desire to help those in demonstrable need,” says Jake Wood, cofounder and CEO of Team Rubicon. “Our team selectively partners with exceptional entities that are aligned with our core mission and strengthen our capacity to achieve our goals, and one of those entities is Civic Duty. Team Rubicon was founded to provide fast and effective aid to disaster regions all over the world. It is staffed by United States Armed Forces Veterans, who serve to provide the necessary skill and experience to deliver relief in tumultuous and often violent situations. Their most recent effort, “Operation Seabird,” deployed 86 emergency medical professionals to the Tacloban region of the Philippines, and performed surgeries, wound treatments, amputations and 500 vaccinations on more than 1,600 victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan.
Team Rubicon (http://www.teamrubiconusa.org) has sent medical aid and search and rescue teams to regions all over the world, and is often the first organized effort on the scene. With ten units stationed all over the United States, representatives from Team Rubicon are able to assist victims of natural disasters located within the US in only a matter of hours. For international disaster relief, aid workers are typically on the site within only a few days.
